and welcome at Mountains Country Saint Bernards.
We are a registered kennel located at the foot of the Beautiful Rocky Mountains in Southern Alberta, Canada.

We moved from The Netherlands to Canada on September 18, 1999,
together with our 2 children Michael and Patricia, 7 dogs and 2 parrots.
We have been training, showing and breeding dogs since 1984.
Neel has her diploma *Animal Health Technologist* and we both have our *Behaviour Therapist* certificate.
With all our knowledge and experience over all those years we are able to recognize health and behaviour problems very easy.
And know how to solve it.

All of our dogs are family members, they are first and foremost beloved companions and becoming top show dogs is just an added bonus!
Our dogs are our life and we can't live without them.
We want to share our passion and love of this wonderful breed of the Saint Bernard.
Our dogs are very special and they mean the world to us.
We raise our puppies in a sociable, friendly environment, what carrying the best characteristics in our Saint Bernard personality.
All our Saint Bernards are Registered at the Canadian Kennel Club.
We are actively involved in conformation shows.
Our goal is dedicated to breeding the highest quality Saint Bernard who will be an important addition in the lives of the people who choose a Mountains Country Saint Bernard as a loving friend and companion who can be NUMBER ONE in the ring, therapy dog, rescue dog, draft dog, weight puller, or just on the couch!
We strive for excellence in type, structure, soundness, and temperament.
Our kennels are on our 11 acres property with fenced ground with lots of room to play and exercise.

We have about 30 Saints and a variable number of juveniles and puppies at our kennel at any given time.
Our dogs have the typical Saintly temperament to get along well with each other (males, females, juveniles) and excellent with other animals, children and elders.
All our Saints love the World and they expect that the world love them.
WHY WE KEEP OUR RETIRED DOGS
We started “in dogs” because we love them, and this love should remain the basis of keeping them.
Therefore all our oldies naturally stay with us to enjoy a hopefully long life after their retirement from breeding and/or showing.
We simply owe it to them, having taken responsibility over them as a puppy and started to love them,
which doesn’t just go away when we don’t take them out to shows anymore..
Breeding involves Art, Science and Total Devotion to the breed.
Our breeding program is based primarily on excellent bloodlines, and we continue to try and breed correct type, sweet-stable temperaments, intelligence as well as structural balance and functional correctness.
Producing Quality Saint Bernards is not a matter of luck and there are no shortcuts in the breeding programs of those who have made it to the top. The Quality dogs are often related and are likely to beget more of the same. The Quality dogs that win are not just pretty glamorous dogs. They are healthy and are built to perform the function for which they were bred. They aren't born by accident they are planned by responsible breeders with definite goals, as improving the breed.
As responsible breeders we embrace the belief that each new litter should represent an improvement over the last.
We have bred our dogs with consideration for temperament, and conformation to the standard for the breed. Structure, Balance, and Movement are very important to us.
We believe that sounder dogs live longer, more productive lives. Because temperaments are hereditary we breed only sweet-tempered dogs and raise our puppies with tender loving care. Mountains Country Saint Bernards also gives careful consideration to health issues, genetic concerns, soundness and general appearance.
